Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has shared motivational words as she sends a message to young creatives.
Taking to her Instagram and Twitter page to share a video of her growth over the years, Funke admitted that her journey to success wasn’t always pretty, but it was worth it. Funke expressed how proud she is that she came from a place of hustle and hard work.
The filmmaker added that she hopes she inspired the young creatives to go out there and keep pushing. She told them never to give up their dreams, even when the road gets tough.

A day ago, after attending Iyabo Ojo’s Labake Olododo movie premiere, Funke spoke about her outfit for the event and how it represents her. She said she is spreading her wings and evolving into the best version of herself and is embracing positive vibes, growth, and transformation.
Last week, while speaking at the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) 2025, Funke said nobody made her a star, only God. The movie star recalled how the idea of Jenifa’s brand came to her and how she started writing scripts for her movies. She recounted how someone in the industry told her to keep milking Jenifa’s brand and gave her money to finance her projects.
Last year, Funke had opened up on the hard times she experienced before rising to stardom. She shared a video of herself being active on the set of her highest-grossing billion-dollar movie, A Trībe Called Judah, as she counted herself as a testimony of believing in herself, saying she faced different challenges but learned to stand tall and encourage others because of them.
Funke has no doubt come a long way and has made a name for herself in the industry. A year back, in an interview, Funke recounted how Iyabo Ojo and Sikiratu Sindodo helped her up the ladder and fought for her during her early career days. According to her, she was being stereotyped because of her physical appearance which many considered ‘ugly’. This led to her breaking down on one of her movie sets and Iyabo and Sikiratu stood up for her.
Funke is currently the Queen of the box office as her latest Cinema movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa became the highest-grossing film of all time in West Africa with 1.6 billion. The filmmaker undoubtedly beat her previous record for A Tr!be Called Judah, which grossed over N1.4 billion.
The box office Queen had disagreed with a Twitter user who spoke out on her work ethic. The tweep revealed how she gets inspired by the award-winning filmmaker and stated that when she wants to rest, she remembers Funke is not resting and as such, continues her hustle. Disagreeing with her, Funke stated that she takes some time off to rest well.
