Nollywood actress Ini Edo, who maintains a private lifestyle, has opened up on her journey to motherhood.

The movie star, in an episode on the hit reality show Young Famous and African, while answering questions pertaining to her child’s paternity, revealed that there was no man in her life when she decided to have her child, which she desperately wanted.

Ini disclosed during her confessional that she never thought she would be one who had fertility issues, but she had issues carrying pregnancies long-term. She stated that when she saw that it wouldn’t happen naturally for her and time wasn’t on her side, she opted for another means.

The screen goddess said she was very happy with her decision.

See her conversations with her colleagues,

Luis asked Ini if she had a child, and she said she had a baby girl.

“Are you married?” Nadia asked.

“I’m not married,” Ini replied

“Are you together with the dad?” Nadia questioned.

“No I’m not,” Ini said.

“Is he still alive?”

“Well, I don’t know,” Ini replied to Nadia.

“Girl, is he dead or not? It’s a yes or no question,” Nadia insisted.

He’s not dead. He doesn’t have anything to do with us. We’re just two people. Just me and my child.”

During her confessional, Ini said: “My journey is one that I have not really been wanting to talk about because it’s personal.”

“I’m raising her alone,” Ini finally told her co-stars. “I went through surrogacy”.

She added: “There was no man in my life at the time and I wanted to have a child. There are different ways to go about that.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Luis is seen discussing the research he had done regarding surrogacy and his willingness to try having a child through said means.

Ini Edo, who was taken aback by his statement, asked why he was choosing surrogacy when he had a girlfriend.

“I don’t think surrogacy is something people just wake up and say that’s what they want to do,” Ini said.

She added during her confessional: “I never thought I would be someone who had fertility issues. But I’ve had issues carrying pregnancies long-term.

“When it looked like it was not going to happen the way I wanted it to happen and I wasn’t getting younger, I said, ‘What are the options? What is available to me?’

And then, this option came up, so I took it.”

“And I’m very happy with my decision,” she told her co-stars.

Recall that in 2021, Ini Edo opened up about having a baby through surrogacy and how beautiful it feels to be a mother. She revealed that the eggs belong to her; hence genetically, the baby is her blood. However, Ini Edo failed to disclose the sperm donor stating that her baby’s peace of mind is paramount to her, and it is an incredible feeling being a mother. Speaking on motherhood, she described it as an awesome feeling.

Ini Edo was once married to Edo businessman, Philip Ehiagwina in 2008, but the marriage hit the rock in 2014. The movie star has since welcomed a child through surrogacy.

Speaking about her crashed marriage, the mother of one revealed that she regretted getting married because it wasn’t the right move to make. However, she is still hoping to get married again whenever she meets the right person.

The movie star, in an interview with Toke Makinwa, revealed why she was still single at 41. The talented movie star, however, made it known that she isn’t looking for too much in a guy as she only needs two things from him, which she listed out.
