Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has opened up about how she is surviving her worst days.
Kemi Filani reported that the movie star, in an emotional video, revealed that her YouTube channel has been experiencing technical issues. Toriola said she had cried in private and promised herself not to cry in public, but it’s taking a toll on her.
In a follow-up post, she said she has never needed love, light, and hugs like she has these past days. According to her, she is presently running on Faith.
“I have never needed love and light, hugs the way I have in these past days.
I am presently running on Faith, vibes and Insha Allah.
If I go back to factory settings after all this is over, don’t use WhatsApp update; kill me o.
My software has been through a lot”.
The Nollywood star had sought answers about her strange behaviour. In an Instagram post, she revealed that she was always unhappy and sad around strangers. Wumi questioned whether she had collected witchcraft and wasn’t aware of it.
Toriola, spoke about the challenges of filmmaking. She noted that filmmakers make movies in an economy that constantly tests their limits, and budgets try to silence their vision, yet they refuse to allow it to define their story. She said she doesn’t have it easy, but she still makes it count.
She lashed out at upcoming actors charging exorbitant prices. She lamented over how half-baked actors with no intention of growing and working on their craft are now rampant in Nollywood.
In a shading Instagram post, Toriola threw shots at an unidentified person, questioning whether the person’s movie is among the top 5, as she stated that her goal isn’t to compete but to remain the best.
In 2024, a fan of the actress had reprimanded her for throwing shots at some of her colleagues, advising her to leave others and stop creating enemies for herself and Wumi replied, telling him to shut up.
The talented scrip interpreter, in another post, threw shade at some of her colleagues for rubbishing her efforts. She pointed out the irony at which someone called her a YouTube star, meanwhile some are yet to conquer YouTube and are still floating in the box office world.
Wumi revealed an unknown fact about herself, stating that she walks her own path unapologetically and with unwavering focus. The mother of one made it known that she doesn’t allow the noise, hype and opinions to move her.
