In a recent interview with WasilaCoded TV, Awoyele revealed that her step-grandmother mistreated her by stealing her pocket money and starving her. She was only given food when it was about to spoil or nearly finished—just enough to wash the cooking pots afterward.

Awoyele emotionally recounted, “My grandma did something one day I never forgave her for until she passed away about four weeks ago. I was famished that day. My grandpa always gave us food and money when we went to town, but my pocket money would disappear because she took it.”
