Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku has expressed confusion over the high number of impressive CVs and companies still struggling to find employees.
On her Instagram page, she noted that she sees people without jobs and impressive CVs, yet companies are still struggling to hire good people.
Mary noted that most CVs are solid, well-written, and tick all the boxes, but when you sit down with the person, something doesn’t connect, and it feels like something went wrong somewhere.
The founder of the ROK studios said CVs have quietly become marketing documents, not true reflections of capabilities. According to her, titles are inflated, responsibilities are aspirational, and polish has replaced depth.

And I’m genuinely confused.

Last year, Mary had advocated for furthering one’s knowledge, stating that we are never too wise to learn, as no one knows it all. She further stated that there is more to see, understand, and become, as the world is vast. She admonished the public not to let their success become a ceiling but a stepping stone.
The wife of the Iroko TV boss had raised a rhetorical question to the public. She questioned why we are alive, why we are still breathing, and what our purpose is on earth.
Not done, she questioned the benefits of joining Nollywood guilds and associations, revealing that a budding filmmaker asked her about the benefits of joining the guilds, and she couldn’t give a clear answer.
Back in 2023, Njoku posed an important question to celebrities on life after stardom. Pointing out how no one stays at the top forever, Mary questioned what would become of them once their fame ended. She further asked if they have a real life to fall back on or have burnt down their real life.
In an Instagram post, advised the public against praying for people God is trying to punish. She told them to be wary of who they pray for, as sometimes one is trying to bless someone God is trying to punish. She admonished them to be wise and discerning, as not every struggle is a battle they’re meant to fight.
