Ibrahim Shekarau

The former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, has declared that politics is his religion and he will not leave the political circle.

Naijaonpoint reports that Shekarau made the remarks while addressing the press at his 70th birthday, stating that despite having witnessed many things in his life’s journey, he has no regrets.

Shakarau emphasised that being involved in active politics does not mean he is contesting any position.

He said, “You may recall that I have been nagging that politics is part of my religion and with this belief I see no day I will get out of the political circle.

“In this life, I have seen so many things, but all thanks to God who has spared my life today to continue in good health and my political journey.

“However, you should know that my remaining in politics does not mean I’m contesting any position, my politics is not about contest but is part of my religious beliefs.”

Shekarau also expressed worry over the security situation in Nigeria, stressing that it was unacceptable that people are slaughtered like Animals.

He noted, “We are not saying eliminate criminality but what we are saying is bring it to the barest minimum”.

Speaking on the economy, the former Minister insisted that any talk of economic growth that does not benefit the masses is baseless and ineffective.

He advised President Tinubu to put more effort into sparing the lives and property of the citizens.
