The Senator representing Kogi Central at the National Assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has downplayed the possibility of contesting the state’s governorship position in the 2027 election.
Naijaonpoint reports that Natasha, during an interview on the Mic On Podcast with Nigerian journalist Seun Okinbaloye on Saturday, said she may run for the Senate in 2027.
According to Natasha, she is currently in talks with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but will consider the gubernatorial race after consulting her family and relevant stakeholders.
She said, “I’m not even promised tomorrow; if by chance I live to experience the 2027 election, I may vie for the Senate again.
“That is what I’m currently in conversation with, with my political party and it’s not yet certain because I first have to get the buying of my husband and family.
“But if by chance he says go ahead I will take that step, as for the governorship in 2027, I don’t know and would not like to speak about that.”
Natasha also dismissed the possibility of joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), from the PDP.
Meanwhile, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, recently responded to allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him by Senator Natasha, urging her to provide evidence to support her claims.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Jackson Udom, Akpabio called on Akpoti-Uduaghan to substantiate her accusations, emphasising the need for clear and verifiable evidence.
He made this call in a statement titled “Setting the record straight on the defamation case involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.”
