Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has confirmed that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has summoned him to answer questions in their office.
According to El-Rufai, in a statement on his 𝕏 account on Friday, he confirmed receiving an invitation letter from the ICPC.
He disclosed that the commission’s letter for him to appear on Friday, 13th February, was received around 4.30 pm on Thursday, 12th February.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, however, said his lawyer has replied to the anti-graft agency that he would honour their invitation on Wednesday, 18th February, 2026.
“Yesterday, after the futile attempt to abduct me, the ICPC delivered a letter to invite me to their office. My lawyer has written to confirm that I will be attending the ICPC office on Wednesday, 18 February 2026,” El-Rufai wrote.
The letter from his lawyers assured ICPC of El-Rufai’s readiness to cooperate with a lawful investigation.
Naijaonpoint recalls that security operatives had attempted to arrest El-Rufai on Thursday at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja upon his return to Nigeria from Cairo, Egypt.
The attempted arrest was, however, unsuccessful and has sparked condemnation from associates of the former Governor.
El-Rufai, himself, on Friday, during an interview with BBC Hausa, alleged that the government wants him arrested because he openly disagreed with the policies of the Bola Tinubu administration.
He, however, added that he won’t shy away from political struggles.
