‘If My Appointor Believes I Can’t Offer Anything, He Can Sack Me’ – Wike

Nyesom Wike 1

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday reacted to growing calls for his removal from office, insisting that only President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him, has the authority to sack him.

Wike spoke during a “thank you” visit to the Obio/Akpor area of Rivers State, where he addressed supporters and party faithful.

Responding to critics demanding his sack, the former Rivers State governor said such calls were misplaced and inconsequential.

Wike said, “Don’t bother about people who say sack me because it doesn’t lie in their mouth.

“If my appointor believes that I can’t offer anything again, he has the right. It’s not that you should tell him.”

The minister maintained that his record in the Federal Capital Territory speaks for itself, stressing that Rivers people and Nigerians were proud of his performance.

“But I’m very proud. Obio/Akpor people are proud, Rivers people are proud, and we can tell Nigerians that we have not disappointed them as far as the FCT is concerned,” he said.

Wike also suggested that criticism often follows visibility and impact, noting that public attacks are a sign of relevance.

“I said it yesterday in Port Harcourt and I want people to note this clearly. If you are not doing well, nobody will talk about you,” he added.
