“I’m more livid at the rate most forms of abuse go unchecked” – Bovi calls out Catholic Priest for knocking altar boy

I am more livid at the rate at which most forms of abuse go unchecked Bovi reacts to viral video of

Nigerian comedian Bovi has called out a Catholic Priest for knocking one of his altar boys.

A day back, a video had threaded online that captured the moment a priest gave an altar boy a heavy knock on the head for failing to keep the microphone steady while a couple exchanged marital vows.

The video elicited outrage from Nigerians, and the priest had tendered an apology for his actions, surprisingly, the boy’s family took the priest’s side, assuring him that there was nothing wrong with him hitting their son.

This didn’t sit well with Bovi, who via his Instagram page, expressed how lived and miffed he was at the rate at which most firms of abuse go unchecked in Nigeria. He noted how the Priest described his actions as “normal correction” and “minor correction”, and the boy’s father said he would have blamed the priest if he didn’t knock him.

Bovi noted how the Catholic Priest hit a defenseless child, humiliated him, harmed his confidence, and hit the head of the child for a very flimsy reason. He questioned what would have happened should the boy have done something grievous. He pondered what the priest could do behind closed doors if he couldn’t control himself in public.

The comedian avowed that knocking a child in the head unprovoked is a violent and criminal act as he questioned why the police hadn’t invited the man.

“I’ve been trying to ignore this video like it never happened but after watching the apology video this morning, I’m more livid and miffed at the rate at which most forms of abuse go unchecked in Nigeria.

In the poorly staged apology video, the priest described his actions as a “normal correction” and “a minor correction.” He was even encouraged by another apology from an adult, who I couldn’t tell who he was exactly, that he would have blamed the priest if he hadn’t done that.

He hit a defenseless child. He humiliated that child. He harmed that child’s confidence. He hit the head of the child for a very flimsy reason. Now imagine when that child does something really wrong.

A priest who couldn’t control himself in public. Take a moment to think about what he’s capable of doing behind closed doors. If we think this is normal behavior, then we are all abnormal.

Knocking a kid in the head unprovoked is a violent and criminal act. @nigerianpolice why haven’t you invited this man? If you fight for one child, you will be saving very many others. We must prevent and put out small fires before we all get consumed.

In a society where a virgin priest who preaches the teachings of Jesus uses physical harm to convey his unprocessed emotions, there is bound to be doom. We’re probably in hell already”.

Bovi slams Catholic Priest for knocking boy

In April, in the wake of the viral Lead British school bullying video, Bovi expressed joy that we still have well-raised children in Nigeria as he expressed his admiration for the victim. Addressing the video of her relative slapping her bully, he expressed displeasure at their behavior but noted that her guardian did it out of fury.
