The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said he is the most insulted politician in Nigeria after President Bola Tinubu.
Wike made the assertion on Saturday at the country home of the Chairman of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) and former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, in Ochigba community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The minister was speaking during a thanksgiving service organised by Nwuche and his family.
Addressing political leaders from Ahoada East LGA during a brief meeting, Wike said persistent attacks against him were rooted in his refusal to compromise on political agreements.
Wike said, “We have never wavered in our support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Let me tell you, after President Bola Tinubu, the next most abused politician is me.
“Why are they abusing me? Because they know agreement is what? When we have agreed on something, let’s implement it.”
The FCT minister also dismissed recent claims by some political actors that they were long-standing supporters of President Tinubu, insisting that many of them were absent during the critical moments of the 2023 general elections.
He said, “Our support for President Tinubu has remained stable. Those who are now claiming to support him, where were they in 2023?”
Earlier, the Chairman of the South-South Development Commission, Chibudom Nwuche, reaffirmed the loyalty of political leaders in Rivers State to Wike, describing the former Rivers State governor as a leader who has consistently stood by his political allies.
Nwuche said leaders across the state would continue to support Wike, stressing that his leadership style and political consistency had earned him trust and respect within the region.
“We will continue to stand with him,” Nwuche said, adding that Wike’s political decisions had always been driven by commitment to agreements and development.
