THE International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Territorial Office, have successfully repatriated 180 Nigerians who were stranded in Libya.
According to a statement from NEMA, the group aboard a charter flight operated by Al-Buraq Airlines arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos around 7:30 PM on Wednesday.
The returnees comprised 67 adult females, 55 adult males, 24 female children, 18 male children, and 16 infants.
Upon their arrival, the Nigerian Immigration Service conducted biometric profiling of the returnees to facilitate proper documentation and support.
Additionally, various government agencies provided humanitarian assistance to help the returnees reintegrate into society.
“The IOM continues to play an essential role in aiding Nigerians stranded abroad, and this recent evacuation highlights the organization’s dedication to safeguarding the rights and dignity of migrants,” the NEMA statement noted.
