The Nigerian government, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has stated that it intends to complete the processes for final selection of candidates for the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) before May 15, 2022.

The applicants were notified of this via e-mails sent by the Program’s organizers on Sunday.

The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme, which is expected to empower 20,000 brilliant Nigerian graduates through 1-year work placement and mentorship on a N20, 000 – N50, 000 monthly stipend, received 365,679 applications nationally, according to the NJFP organizers.

The organizers of the program emphasized that out of the large number of candidates, 116,636 satisfied the minimal prerequisites based on the selection criteria, emphasizing that the final selection of the most qualified applicants for the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme is still in progress.

The team described the procedures as follows:

Three main steps are still in progress

Final Fellows Selection: During this step, a number of aptitude tests and other qualitative assessments are administered to further screen applicants.

Choosing Host Organizations: Review and final selection of host organization applicants who will be paired with Fellows.

Finding Host Organizations for Fellows: The final placement of selected fellows with host organizations in both the commercial and governmental sectors is completed.

“Following these three steps, communication will be made to successful applicants. Fellow profiles then are developed and sent to prospective host companies for their final review. This will then lead to the onboarding process into the programme”, the NJFP organisers added.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s government announced the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) on August 31, 2021, as a cooperation project between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The program was prompted by increased unemployment and the COVID-19 pandemic, both of which are affecting young Nigerians’ capacity to find job.

NJFP aims to match bright graduates with local career opportunities that are relevant to their field of study, while also providing them with world-class practical knowledge and skills. It makes no difference whether you have no prior work experience!

The 20,000 people who are expected to benefit from the initiative will receive monthly stipends ranging from N20, 000 to N50, 000 for a year.
