Independence Anniversary: FG declares Wednesday public holiday

THE Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

He congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad on what he described as a historic milestone.

Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and resilience, which he said have sustained the country since independence in 1960.

He also called on Nigerians to continue to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on national rebirth, economic transformation, and shared prosperity.

Expressing optimism, the minister said Nigeria would continue to make progress in peace, growth, and development with the collective effort of its citizens.

He wished the nation a memorable 65th Independence Day celebration.
