Indian-origin man dies of a bear attack in Canada; brother reveals 27 y/o wanted to be a UFC fighter

An Indian-origin man who wanted to be a professional mixed martial arts fighter was killed in a rare fatal bear attack in northern Saskatchewan,
Canada. The incident took place on May 8; however, his identity was made public by his brother this week.

27-year-old Hrishikesh Koloth was born in Kerala and was working at a uranium exploration site in Canada when he was attacked by a black bear. His brother Arjun Koloth revealed that he had trained in MMA for over a decade and moved to Canada only three years ago. The two brothers have been living in Penticton,
British Columbia.

The victim of the attack, Hrishikesh, had been working on contract as a technician at the Zoo Bay property operated by Vancouver-based UraniumX Discovery Corp. The site is near Nordbye Lake, roughly 850 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.

‘Fighter and a dreamer’

While speaking to CBC News, Arjun said that his brother was a “fighter and a dreamer”. “That was his dream. That’s why he came here,” Arjun said. “He wanted to fight in the UFC”. Arjun revealed that Hrishikesh was training with Skoden Martial Arts in Penticton, and “everybody had high hopes for him.”

“It shouldn’t have been like this,” he said. Arjun revealed that his door was knocked on at 4:00 am (local time) by the authorities. “An RCMP came to my door and knocked and let me know that your brother has passed away in Saskatchewan,” he said.

Meanwhile, a civilian on site shot and killed the bear. The corpse of the animal was then transported to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon for a necropsy. The company, UraniumX Discovery Corp, eventually confirmed one of its contractors was killed and extended its thoughts and prayers to the family.
