A massive earthquake struck Indonesia on Saturday at 4.58am local time. The 7.7-magnitude tremor hit 68 kilometres north-northwest of Ende, at a depth of 10 kilometres, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
Following the horror quake, which struck not far from the coast of the country visited by thousands of British tourists every year, the country’s Weather, Climate, and Earthquake Information office (BMKG) issued an early tsunami warning. The first, massive tremor was followed by at least two other powerful quakes at 5.9 and 5.6 magnitude respectively, all off the northern coast of Sikka.
