The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the 2025 elections will commence on Monday, August 18, 2025.
According to a statement released on Friday via its official 𝕏 handle, INEC disclosed that online pre-registration will begin first through the portal cvr.inecnigeria.org, while physical registration will start a week later.
Naijaonpoint reports that the Commission said in-person registration will commence on Monday, August 25, 2025, across all INEC Local Government Area offices and designated registration centres nationwide.
The exercise will run from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. INEC urged all eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered to take advantage of the exercise.
The statement read, “This exercise is for Nigerians who have attained voting age or those who were unable to register in previous exercises.”
The Commission also clarified that the process is not limited to new registrants.
“It also accommodates requests for transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, and correction of personal information such as names and dates of birth,” INEC explained.
INEC emphasised that its goal is to ensure every eligible Nigerian can participate in the democratic process.
“Our goal is to ensure every eligible Nigerian has the opportunity to exercise their civic right. We are working to make the voter registration process accessible, transparent, and inclusive,” the Commission stated.
