Bandits have reportedly killed two people and injured several others in a violent raid on Tuge town in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Residents said the attackers struck around 7 a.m., firing sporadically and forcing many to flee for safety.

Several victims sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The assault came despite repeated peace agreements between Musawa LGA stakeholders and bandit groups operating in the area.

Community leaders had hoped these deals would reduce violence and allow displaced residents to return to normal life.

A security analyst, Bakatsine, noted in a social media post that the incident “has exposed the weakness of the peace arrangement in protecting rural communities.”

He added that the attack also revealed that “the bandits still have the capacity to strike at will,” urging that “security agencies should rethink their approach and strengthen protection for vulnerable communities.”

The analyst further stated, “The peace deals are good, but they need to be backed by stronger security measures to prevent such attacks.”

Security forces were reportedly alerted as the attackers withdrew.

However, many residents questioned the effectiveness of the peace agreements, pointing out that this latest raid underscores the continued vulnerability of rural communities in Katsina State.
