Inter Milan’s management has decided against making public statements or comments regarding the recent arrests of key figures in the club’s ultra fanbase.
The club’s president, Giuseppe Marotta, and CEO, Alessandro Antonello, were present at a Lega Serie A meeting in Milan but declined to address the scandal surrounding the Nerazzurri and AC Milan ultras, as per TMW.
Despite questions from the press, the Inter leadership remained tight-lipped as investigations into serious criminal activity unfold.
The ugly situation stems from an extensive police operation earlier this week, which led to the arrest of 18 individuals, including prominent leaders from both Inter and Milan ultra factions.
Sixteen of those arrested were taken into custody, with two placed under house arrest.
The police action, directed by investigating judge Domenico Santoro, revealed disturbing accusations of extortion, mafia ties, and violent conflicts among fan groups.
The criminal activities included extortion on ticket sales, parking fees around the Meazza Stadium, and illicit control over the sale of drinks and merchandise at matches.
The Inter Nord ultras, in particular, face severe accusations, including involvement in mafia-style criminal association.
Key figures, such as Andrea Beretta, who is also under investigation for the stabbing death of a mafia clan member, and Marco Ferdico, along with several others, are charged with leading these illegal operations.
Authorities have been investigating the group for over six years, uncovering connections to the murder of notorious ultra-leader Vittorio Boiocchi, who was released from prison in 2018 after serving 26 years but was later shot dead in a targeted attack.
