Inter Milan are poised to extend the contract of highly-rated Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, with a fresh agreement expected to run until June 2029, Footynaija.com reports.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Sampdoria, gaining valuable first-team experience in Serie B and impressing scouts with his composure, versatility, and tactical awareness. His performances have been closely monitored by Inter, who now view him as a key long-term asset.

Akinsanmiro initially joined Inter from Nigerian academy side Remo Stars and quickly progressed through the club’s Primavera ranks, even making a senior debut in Serie A against Lecce. He was once a transfer target for European heavyweights including Real Madrid and Benfica, but Inter moved swiftly to secure his signature.

With his current deal set to expire in June 2026, the Nerazzurri are eager to ward off future interest by locking the midfielder into a longer-term commitment. Talks are reportedly at an advanced stage, with both parties confident a renewal will be finalised in the coming days.

Although Akinsanmiro is not expected to break into Simone Inzaghi’s first-team plans immediately, another loan move could be on the cards for the upcoming campaign. Inter, however, are adamant they will not sanction a permanent sale.

The midfielder’s blend of physical strength and creative intelligence in possession makes him one of the most exciting young African talents on the continent.
