Nigerian singer, Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, better known as Bella Shmurda, has revealed why he wrote his hit song, ‘Cash App’, for internet fraudsters, otherwise known as Yahoo boys.

Naijaonpoint recalls that Bella Shmurda released Cash App, which featured rappers Zlatan and Lincoln, in 2020. The song became an instant hit in Nigeria and across Africa.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the song during a recent interview with Clout Africa, Shmurda explained that internet fraud is stressful and comes with many challenges.

According to the singer, sometimes it is good to cater for  Yahoo boys by making them happy.

The host asked, “What inspired Cash App? Were you?

Shmurda replied, “It is Yahoo in the sense that they [Yahoo boys] have to dance. These people that are hustling, you have to make them happy. Because internet fraud is stressful. It has a lot of challenges.

“The truth is, when it comes to inspiration, you don’t have any story behind it. It is natural, it just comes. It is God-given. So, Cash App is divine.”

Meanwhile, Bella Shmurda recently refuted claims that Nigerian artistes are skyrocketing their performance fees.

Naijaonpoint reports that Bella Shmurda, in a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, said he and his colleagues charge high fees because of their high expenditures as musicians.

The ‘Eye Clear’ crooner explained that musicians pay many of the people who work behind the scenes on their tours from their performance fees.

He also cited the high cost of music production and promotion, as well as the expensive lifestyle required to maintain celebrity status, as reasons their performance fees are high.
