A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has stated that the Southeast has been taken back from criminals.
Naijaonpoint reports that Igbokwe’s remarks follow the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home order.
In a post via his Facebook page, Igbokwe said the Southeast will never again suffer criminality, adding that IPOB members, whom he described as fraudsters, have gone into oblivion and buried their faces in shame.
He wrote, “All things considered, we have gradually taken back South-East. Never again will Igboland suffer this level of criminalities in the 21st century.
“Our education is not for fancy. It is not for nothing. It is for the good of the commonwealth. Never again.
“The foolish adults in Onitsha and IPOB fraudsters who organized young people to be shouting “Soludo show me the law” have gone into oblivion and buried their faces in shame. We are our own enemies & will receive sense las las.”
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has ordered the reopening of the Onitsha Main Market for full economic and commercial activities.
The directive followed the expiration of a one-week closure earlier imposed by the state government after traders failed to comply with the directive to ignore the Monday sit-at-home order enforced by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra.
Governor Soludo gave the order during an on-the-spot assessment of the market, which he undertook alongside top government officials and security personnel.
The governor had ordered the temporary shutdown of the commercial hub after observing continued compliance by traders with the sit-at-home order, despite repeated assurances by the government and security agencies that the restriction had been lifted.
Soludo warned at the time that the closure could be extended if traders failed to resume business on Mondays, adding that security agencies had been deployed to seal the market and enforce the decision.
