The ongoing legal battle between media aide Lere Olayinka and Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, has taken a dramatic turn, with Olayinka demanding that Fayose undergo drug testing by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for six months.
In Suit No. FCT/HC/GAR/CV/157/2025 before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Olayinka, who currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, challenged Fayose to submit himself to bi-monthly drug tests at the NDLEA’s expense.
“The defendant hereby challenges the claimant to subject himself to drug test by the NDLEA for six months, with testing to occur twice a month,” Olayinka stated in court documents, adding that he is willing to bear the cost.
Olayinka’s response includes a series of claims and media reports aimed at portraying Isaac Fayose as someone allegedly under the influence of drugs. He referenced a video posted by Fayose on October 11, 2024, in which he declared himself the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and announced the suspension of prominent members such as Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike. The incident was widely reported in the Daily Post and New Telegraph newspapers on October 12, 2024.
Olayinka also cited a controversial post made by Fayose on August 29, 2022, where he claimed to have escaped a kidnapping attempt—an allegation that was later retracted. The defendant referenced reports from PMNews Nigeria and Independent.ng in which both the police and Fayose reportedly admitted that the kidnapping story was fabricated.
“All the above acts of the claimant are pointers to the fact that the claimant is under the influence of drugs,” Olayinka alleged.
He further argued that contrary to Fayose’s claim of defamation, his own duty as a media aide is to protect the image of his principal, the FCT Minister. Olayinka insisted that Fayose, who allegedly faked a kidnapping and made bizarre public declarations, “has no image to protect.”
The suit continues as both parties prepare to present their arguments before the court.
