Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has written a note about parenting as she shares her motherhood experience.

The single mother of one, who has a son with her ex-husband Olakunle Churchill, via her Instagram page, revealed that motherhood has been the most profound transformative experience of her life and has reshaped her at her core.

She said that from the moment she held her son in her arms, she knew she wanted to be more than just a provider and wanted to be present, intentional, break the silent generational patterns, and refuse to allow her son to grow up feeling unseen, unheard, and emotionally disconnected.

Tonto stated that every single day, she chooses to show up not just physically, but with her heart, mind, and full presence. She added that she listens, affirms, nurtures, and ensures that her son is safe, valued, and deeply cherished.

Counting down to his 9th birthday, Dikeh stated that she still finds herself in awe of him, and her journey as a mother. She added that it is her greatest purpose, deepest joy, and the most scarred responsibility she will ever carry.

“Motherhood has been the most profound, transformative experience of my life—the kind of journey that reshapes you at your core. From the moment I held my son in my arms, I knew I wanted to be more than just a provider. I wanted to be present, to be intentional, to break the silent generational patterns where love was measured in material provision but lacked emotional depth. I refused to let my child grow up feeling unseen, unheard, or emotionally disconnected, as so many before us had.

Every single day, I choose to show up—not just physically but with my heart, my mind, and my full presence. I listen, I affirm, I nurture, and I love in a way that ensures my son knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he is safe, valued, and deeply cherished. Because parenting, to me, isn’t about circumstance—it’s about commitment. It’s about making the conscious decision to raise a child who feels emotionally secure, who knows vulnerability is not a weakness, and who understands that love is not something to be earned but something that should be freely given.

As he approaches his 9th birthday, I still find myself in awe—of him, of this journey, of the honor it is to be his mother. To be entrusted with his heart, his growth, his childhood. I don’t take it lightly. Motherhood has stretched me, refined me, and made me more human. It is my greatest purpose, my deepest joy, and the most sacred responsibility I will ever carry.”

While marking the New Year, Tonto stated that she is prioritizing her family over everything as she vowed to protect them with her life. Tonto said she was ready for war if anyone wanted to declare war over them. However, the actress stated that she isn’t stop!d to ignore their foolishness.

In other news, Tonto shared a deep message about the importance of one’s actions. The mother of one wrote about understanding one’s identity in an environment amidst different people. She added that things done in secrecy have a way of lingering and shaping one’s thoughts, choices, and future.
