While others celebrated their mothers on Mother’s Day, Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami honoured his late friend, Allwell Ademola.
In a heartbreaking post, he noted that Allwell isn’t alive to receive the flowers for directing her movie, Kilanko. He described the movie as an impactful, balanced, and thought-provoking film celebrating mothers.
He expressed a desire for everyone to see the film, which was her last big project.
“HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, SHUGA BOO.
SHUGA BOO, I DID IT… KILANKO IS CURRENTLY SHOWING IN ALL CINEMAS ON “MOTHER’S DAY” as YOU WISHED.
IT ONLY HURTS THE MOST TODAY REFLECTING YOU ARE NOT HERE TO RECEIVE YOUR FLOWERS FOR DIRECTING SUCH AN IMPACTFUL AND BALANCED THOUGHT-PROVOKING FILM TO CELEBRATE MOTHERS.
TRULY, IN LIFE. KI LAN KO GANGAN

A day back, Rotimi had responded to a troll who slammed him for using the late actress to promote the movie. He noted how people comment with such ignorance and admonished the troll to keep quiet and not promote the works of their late loved ones.
Kemi Filani reported on December 27th that the actress had passed away after suffering a heart attack at her residence.
While speaking on the Oyinmomo TV program, Salami said he believes the actress’s passing was simply her time, noting that cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, regardless of how careful they are with their health. He said that many who were close to the late actress knew she had asthma, but she took her health seriously and never joked with it.
In his first public post after the news of her death, Rotimi, who was her best friend, noted how 72 hours of endless tears still can’t bring her back. Rotimi made it known that all wasn’t well at the moment, but for the sake of his family, friends, and the fans who had shown up, and most especially, for his children, he was learning to move on.
On New Year’s Day, Rotimi expressed heartbreak at not being able to celebrate the New Year with her. He revealed that for five consecutive years, he and Allwell had crossed over to the New Year under the same roof, prayed, and made wishes together. Unfortunately, this year was different.
A heartbroken Rotimi shared a sweet moment between him and the actress over the years, saying that if one comes from nothing, one will appreciate everything.
Following her burial, the married actor, had written an appreciation letter to his colleagues, and the entire Nollywood family. He appreciated them for the overwhelming love, support, and solidarity, noting how during their darkest moment, they stood by them.
Still grieving, he had prayed against untimely death in the industry. Sharing a photo of himself and the deceased, he revealed that it was difficult moving on, but he sure will with the help of everyone out here.
