Comedian and actor Bright Okpocha, better known as Basketmouth, has urged couples facing marital problems to avoid bringing their issues to social media.
Naijaonpoint reports that the father of three warned that such actions could harm their children in the long run.
He shared the advice in a video posted on his Instagram page, stressing that while misunderstandings in marriages are normal, making them public only creates future emotional problems for the children involved.
The entertainer, who has also experienced a broken marriage, said that he chose not to share personal details of his own situation online to protect his family’s privacy.
Basketmouth expressed concern about the growing culture of couples posting sensitive family matters on the internet.
He said many people forget that their children will one day come across these posts, and that such information could be used to mock or emotionally hurt them later in life.
The comedian also reacted to the ongoing conflict between Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, urging the lawmaker to act with maturity and handle the issue privately instead of letting it play out in public.
He appealed to both parties and other couples to resolve family issues quietly, adding that the internet never forgets and that every public post about a broken home becomes a lasting scar for the children involved.
He said: “Families have had problems since the beginning of time. I also had issues in my marriage, but I never brought them online to share details.
“They forget that their children will grow up and see these things online. Their children’s friends might use these details against them and damage their emotional well-being.
“Senator, you are an elder. If nobody will tell you, I will. Every day this matter gets worse. Handle it with the maturity expected of your office.”
