Paris Saint Germain has officially signed forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli on a contract that runs until June 2029.
The talented Georgia international, who had been linked with clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea, made the decision to leave Serie A leaders Napoli last week following unsuccessful contract extension negotiations.
While the specifics of the transfer fee have not been publicly disclosed, reports indicate that PSG has invested around 70 million euros (£59 million), including potential add-ons, to secure Kvaratskhelia’s services.
“It’s a dream to be here,” the 23-year-old winger said. “I’ve heard so many positive things about the club, and I feel immense pride in becoming part of such a prestigious team. I can’t wait to don my new colours.”
Kvaratskhelia earned the nickname ‘Kvaradona’ from Napoli supporters, honouring the legacy of club legend Diego Maradona. He joined Napoli in 2022 for £9 million from Georgian outfit Dinamo Batumi and has made a significant impact, contributing 54 goals and assists in 107 appearances.
As PSG’s first signing in the January transfer window, Kvaratskhelia also holds the distinction of being the first Georgian player in the club’s history.
“Khvicha is one of the most exciting talents in world football, showcasing not only skill but also a strong work ethic and dedication to the team,” the club stated.
Currently, PSG are leading Ligue 1 by seven points over Marseille and are preparing for their next match against Lens on Saturday, followed by a crucial Champions League clash with Manchester City on Wednesday.
