It’s Disgusting – Uriel Oputa Slams Nigerians For Shaming Women

Reality TV star, Uriel Oputa, had berated Nigerians who shame women over their choices on motherhood and reproductive health.

Speaking via a post shared on Instagram, the health enthusiast lamented that public figures are often judged for choosing to give birth naturally, through surrogacy, or via IVF.

She fumed that it is disheartening to see people, particularly other women, drag and criticise other women for their choices.

Oputa asserted that people often forget that those they condemn are real human beings with emotions, silent struggles, and private pain.

She said, “So what if a woman brings a child into the world. Instead of celebrating life, people start comparing, saying things like ‘when I was breastfeeding, I didn’t do this’ or ‘why didn’t she do that?’ Everyone’s story is different. Even siblings from the same parents aren’t the same.”

She went on to question why people feel entitled to analyse women’s lives, mentioning names like Toke Makinwa, Tiwa Savage, and Hilda Baci, among others, who often face intense public scrutiny.

Are you them?” she asked pointedly. “Everyone’s journey is unique. Nigerians can really be shameless sometimes.”

In her caption, Uriel added that it’s disturbing to see people bring a woman down for creating life. She urged people to check their hearts instead of constantly criticizing others.

I hate seeing other women being pulled down,” she wrote. “It’s disgusting. Ask yourself why you’re not progressing; it’s your heart. I’ll continue to defend Toke or whoever I wish.”
