Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has confronted long-standing stereotypes surrounding single motherhood, describing single mothers as resilient, accomplished, and increasingly respected in today’s society.
Speaking at a recent public gathering, the actress stated that the narrative depicting single mothers as disadvantaged no longer reflects reality. She highlighted that many single mothers are thriving in their careers, families, and personal lives, earning admiration for the discipline and values they instil in their children.
Iyabo Ojo emphasised that the dedication required to raise a child alone has become a point of admiration rather than criticism. She noted that men are now openly acknowledging this strength, often expressing a desire for commitment rather than secrecy.
“Look at the child you raised all by yourself; I can only imagine how well-mannered the child we’ll have together will be,” she said.
