JAMB Arrests Over 40 Candidate for Exam Malpractice in 2025 UTME, Warns of Swift Prosecution
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the arrest of over 40 individuals for various forms of examination malpractice in the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The exam, which began on April 25 and is scheduled to end on May 5, has seen a dedicated focus on enforcement and exam integrity.
In its latest weekly bulletin released on Monday, the board identified impersonation as the most prevalent form of cheating. JAMB has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward examination fraud, vowing that anyone caught will face swift prosecution.
“Unchecked examination infractions erode the credibility of our education system,” the board warned.
JAMB noted that its enhanced security measures , including the continued use of computer-based testing (CBT) , have significantly reduced cases of malpractice compared to previous years. The shift away from paper-based testing has made it increasingly difficult for candidates to engage in illegal practices.
The board emphasized its commitment to upholding the credibility and integrity of the UTME, calling on candidates to prepare properly and avoid shortcuts that could jeopardize their academic future.
All arrested individuals are reportedly facing legal action, and JAMB has issued a fresh warning: any candidate caught engaging in impersonation or other misconduct will be immediately arrested and prosecuted.
