Jason Bateman to Direct Detective Drama The Pinkerton

Jason Bateman is set to direct supernatural detective drama The Pinkerton. The film is the first film project to be produced for JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robot after Warner Bros signed a deal with the production company. Warner Bros. and Bad Robot acquired the rights for the film two years ago from Fast & Furious 9 screenwriter Daniel Casey.

The film tells the tale of the Pinkertons, a private security guard and detective agency in the United States that was founded in the 1850s. The agency is founded and headed by Scotsman Allan Pinkerton and Chicago attorney Edward Rucker. The agency became distinguished after Scotsman claimed they successfully terminated the assassination of the then president-elect Abraham Lincoln. To show his gratitude for saving his life, the agency was soon hired by the president to become his personal security during the Civil War era.

Dateline reports that Emmy Award winner director Jason Bateman will be directing the film in partnership with Warner Bros. and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. The actor is pretty busy with both with acting, directing and producing. After he finished filming for the soon-to-be released film Air, he is busy working on Superfans: Screaming. Crying. Throwing up. as a producer while filming for the film Carry On and will be taking on the role of director and producer on the upcoming film Dark Wire.

Jason Bateman has been directing films and episodes of different TV shows like Ozark so this isn’t Jason Bateman’s first rodeo to directing. He made his directorial debut through one of the episodes of the NBC sitcom The Hogan Family in 1989. He also directed some episodes of the sitcom Arrested Development and then made his film directorial debut through the 2013 film Bad Words then followed by the 2015 film The Family Fang.

He has since directed several projects and received accolades on his work. He was first nominated for his directorial work in Primetime Emmy Awards in 2018 for one of the most watched series Ozark. Bateman finally earned his first directorial award after winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Ozark in 2020.

Of course he’s also an excellent actor with several Best Actor Awards under his belt. He first won his best actor award for Golden Globe Awards in 2005 for the category Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for Arrested Development. He has since won four more Best Actor awards from different award giving bodies.
