Jay Z Finally Closes the Book on Rymir Paternity Saga
The decade-long legal circus surrounding Jay Z and Rymir Satterthwaite has officially reached its quiet end. And in a surprising move, Jay Z chose not to go after a single dollar in attorney fees, even after winning the case outright in federal court.
According to newly filed documents, the billionaire mogul allowed the judge’s deadline to pass without requesting reimbursement. Earlier this week, a Los Angeles federal judge confirmed the matter is permanently closed and the window for Jay to recoup costs has expired.
After ten years of accusations and filings, Hov simply let it go.
Rymir Dropped His Case, But Insisted He Was “Not Done”
Back in July, Rymir voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit in which he accused Jay Z of being his biological father and claimed the rapper refused to take a DNA test. At the time, Rymir insisted that stepping back was a strategic decision.
“I did withdraw my case, but it’s for a reason. I have not stopped my fight,” he said during a livestream. “I have not gotten any DNA test. I have not gotten a settlement. It is not over.”
But legally, at least in federal court, it actually is.
In early November, U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett dismissed a related lawsuit with prejudice. That case was filed by Rymir’s godmother and legal guardian, Lillie Coley.
Coley had repeated the same allegations Rymir has pushed for years: that his late mother Wanda had a relationship with Jay in the early 1990s and that the rapper used his influence to avoid accountability.
The judge’s ruling shut the door on any future attempt to bring those claims back to federal court.
Jay Z’s Lawyers Call the Whole Thing “Harassment”
Throughout the years of filings in New Jersey and beyond, Jay’s legal team has been firm: the stories are untrue, the accusations are fabricated, and no court has ever validated any paternity claim.
Earlier this year, Jay’s attorneys described the entire saga as a “decades-long harassment campaign.” They pointed out that multiple courts across multiple states have said the same thing: they cannot force Jay Z to take a test, and there is no evidence supporting Rymir’s claims.
Where Things Stand Now
With the cases dismissed and no pursuit of legal fees, Jay Z appears fully finished with the situation. Rymir continues to insist privately that his fight is not over, but legally, the path forward is now nearly nonexistent.
After ten years of rumors, filings, livestream rants, and social media theories, the courts have spoken. And Hov clearly has no desire to revisit the matter again.
