He had been missed by the music industry! After 3 years of absence, MIDEM returns in an even more experimental form from January 19 to 21 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes and becomes MIDEM +. A festival sponsored by one of the pioneers of electronic music, Jean-Michel Jarre.
All about: The Festival of Lights 2022 in Lyon
The International Record and Music Publishing Market (MIDEM) has taken place every year in Cannes since 1967. Thanks to him, for 4 days, music professionals can learn about the latest trends and discover new artists.
Like MIPIM, it takes place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
Left aside in 2019, MIDEM is about to rise from its ashes. Like a Phoenix, it will be more powerful, solid and above all, it should last over time.
This number zero of MIDEM + marks the revival of a festival that had been exhausted. It was at the initiative of the town hall of Cannes, which bought the brand, that this project was made possible. While the municipality waited 50,000 decision-makers, they will be double.
I was not yet mayor and I was already thinking about developing MIDEM. This will be done this year with an edition that will allow everyone to connect in an exploratory universe focused on new technologies. This is why we receive renowned artists like “Fatboy slim”. We put it all together in 6 months.
David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes
On the program: concerts, electronic music and classical music which will thus be able to merge the time of MIDEM +.
Here are some names, some of which will play live:
►January 19: live Jean-Michel Jarre
►January 20: National Orchestra of Cannes
►January 21: the Niçois of Hyphen-Hyphen
►January 21: Fatboy Slim
His name appeared as obvious to the mayor of Cannes who had already met him. Jean-Michel Jarrre immediately agreed to take up the challenge of renaissance and novelty.
Putting MIDEM back in step with our times is of course of interest to me as a creator. I want to participate in the revival of this festival which had fallen into disuse. Do not miss the train of modernity. Besides, my opening concert will be very innovative, because thanks to technology, the public will be totally immersed in the show.
Jean Michel Jarre
This is not his first attempt, because this artist has always invented, reinvented himself and has always known how to seduce his audience.
Especially with his third album “Oxygen” released in 1976 and sold to 18 million copies in the whole world.
This time he will present his latest album “Oxymoron” during 3 immersive concerts and with 360 multi-channel sound. January 19 at 9 p.m. and January 20 at 6:30 p.m. for the general public – January 19 at 6:30 p.m. for professionals.
