JetBlue flight 'hit drone while approaching JFK Airport'

An airline pilot reported hitting a drone as the flight was approaching the JFK International Airport for landing on Monday. According to the reports, the drone hit the JetBlue plane right above the cockpit and at about 3,000 feet, the pilot claimed.

The incident happened around 7.15am. “We collided with a drone back there in the turn as we were coming to ASALT, just wanted to pass to you,” the pilot tells an air traffic controller. The pilot said they did not need any assistance and were good to continue with the landing.

A post-flight inspection did not reveal any damage to the aircraft. The FAA says it will investigate.
