Jigawa State Government has explained why students in public secondary schools were unable to access their National Examinations Council (NECO) results shortly after the examination body announced the release of the results.
The delay left many candidates and their parents worried, particularly as students from some private schools had already accessed their results.
Several affected students and parents in Dutse, Hadejia and Gumel expressed concern over the situation.
They said the inability to obtain the results was creating uncertainty for candidates preparing for further education.
One of the affected students, Ashiru Sani, said candidates had repeatedly attempted to check their results without success.
“We were worried because other students had already seen their results. We did not understand why ours were still unavailable,” he said.
A parent, Umar Garba, also appealed to the state government to resolve the matter, noting that his children needed their results for admission purposes.
Another guardian, Fatima Ali, urged the authorities to act quickly so affected candidates would not miss admission opportunities.
However, Jigawa State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Isa Chamo, said the delay was caused by a failed payment transaction between the state government and NECO.
Chamo explained that the funds paid by the government to the examination body were returned because of a banking transaction problem.
He said the government moved quickly to correct the problem and reprocessed the payment after discovering the failed transaction.
According to the commissioner, NECO had since confirmed receipt of the payment, clearing the way for the affected students to access their results.
Chamo assured students that the results would become available on the NECO portal from 6pm on Tuesday.
He also urged parents and candidates to remain calm, stressing that the state government had settled all outstanding examination-related fees.
“No student will be left behind. We have resolved the issues with NECO and students can now proceed to check their results,” the commissioner said.
