Former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, has dismissed recent rumours circulating in the state suggesting that he is considering defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Thursday by his media consultant, Clinton Garuba, Jang described the reports as baseless, mischievous, and a deliberate attempt to create political tension.
Garuba reaffirmed his principal’s commitment to the PDP, insisting that the former governor remains a committed and unwavering member of the party.
He stated clearly that Jang’s political convictions “have not changed.”
He added that Senator Jang “has no intention, contemplation, or reason to leave the PDP for the APC or any other political platform.”
The media consultant also debunked claims that the former governor was aware of any plan by the incumbent Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to dump the PDP, stating that such insinuations only “existed only in the imagination of those attempting to create tension in the state’s political space.”
“The repeated attempt to drag Jang’s name into speculative political narratives is unnecessary, misleading, and entirely without basis,” Garuba noted.
Garuba stressed that the former Governor remains focused on supporting the stability of the PDP, strengthening democratic institutions, and promoting unity among stakeholders and citizens of Plateau State.
He appealed to the public, party members, and the media to disregard the destabilising rumours and called for responsible political engagement and accuracy in public discourse.
