THE Former Minister of Information and Orientation, Professor Jerry Gana, has declared that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking with journalists after the PDP Congress in Minna, Niger State, over the weekend, Gana expressed confidence that Jonathan would defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and return to Aso Villa a decade after losing power.
“In 2015, former President Goodluck Jonathan said his ambition was not worth the blood of Nigerians. After him, another President ruled for eight years, and now another has ruled for two years. Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear,” Gana said.
He added that Nigerians were now calling for Jonathan’s return. “I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the presidential election in 2027 as PDP candidate, and we should be prepared to vote for him to return as President again,” he said.
Jonathan, who was defeated by Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, ended the PDP’s 16-year hold on power.
Since then, the party has struggled with internal crises while attempting to reclaim the presidency.
