A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Umar Sani, has stated that the return of former President Goodluck Jonathan to active politics could impact President Bola Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term.
Speaking on Friday during an interview, Sani claimed that Tinubu is currently positioning himself to win over the South-South region.
“Tinubu is preparing these states (Edo, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers) for himself. The coming of Jonathan will upstage his efforts, as the South-South will rally strongly to support him. They simply cannot sacrifice their own son for any other consideration.
“They will come out en masse because this is their son. So they cannot sacrifice their own son for any other consideration.
“So, it will affect Tinubu more than it will affect any other candidate that is coming from the North, which is the battleground for Jonathan,” he said.
