The Portuguese tactician opted to play Patrick Dorgu further up the pitch in an attacking role, and Michael Carrick is reaping dividends.
The Danish wide man has scored two goals in Carrick’s two games in charge, and the one against Arsenal was a belter.

Joshua Zirkzee laps up Patrick Dorgu’s goal in Naija style
Manchester United house three players with Nigerian roots – Chido Obi-Martin, Joshua Zirkzee and Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu and Obi-Martin were born in Denmark to Nigerian parents, and while Zirkzee’s mother is Nigerian, he has a Dutch father, hence his decision to play for Les Oranjes.
Currently suffering from a strain injury, the former Bayern Munich striker couldn’t feature in United’s victory against Arsenal last night, but was supporting from home.
Reacting to Dorgu’s strike from distance, Zirkzee posted a clip of the goal on his Instagram story with the caption ‘Oh my God! This kid is so serious.’
However, it didn’t end there. The Nigerian in Zirkzee jumped out when he commented on Dorgu’s Instagram post.
It wouldn’t be the first time Nigerian lingo has flown in the Old Trafford dressing room. Last season, Chido Obi-Martin exchanged a pleasantry in pidgin.
Zirkzee previously mentioned his favourite meal is his mom’s rice and stew, with the Nigerian spices.

Dorgu also did his homework, captioning his post with Odion Ighalo’s famous ‘In that position I just have to smash it’ comment.
Manchester United’s win against Arsenal puts them into fourth on the Premier League table. They’re now 12 points behind Mikel Arteta’s men, who still occupy the first position.
