The three tiers of government, namely the Federal, State, and Local Government Areas, have shared a total of ₦2.001 trillion in revenue from the Federation Account for July 2025.
Naijaonpoint reports that the allocation was made at the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting held in Abuja and announced in a communiqué released on Friday by the spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa.
From the ₦2.001 trillion distributable revenue, the Federal Government received ₦735.081 billion, state governments got ₦660.349 billion, while the 774 local government councils shared ₦485.039 billion.
In addition, oil-producing states received ₦120.359 billion as 13 per cent derivation revenue.
Breakdown of Revenues
FAAC explained that the July distributable revenue came from four major sources:
- Statutory revenue: ₦1.282 trillion
- Value Added Tax (VAT): ₦640.610 billion
- Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL): ₦37.601 billion
- Exchange difference: ₦39.745 billion
From the ₦1.282 trillion statutory revenue, the Federal Government received ₦613.805 billion, state governments got ₦311.330 billion, local councils collected ₦240.023 billion, while oil-producing states received ₦117.714 billion as derivation.
From the ₦640.610 billion Value Added Tax, the Federal Government received ₦96.092 billion, states got ₦320.305 billion, and local councils received ₦224.214 billion.
Out of the ₦37.601 billion Electronic Money Transfer Levy, the Federal Government took ₦5.640 billion, states shared ₦18.801 billion, and local councils got ₦13.160 billion.
From the ₦39.745 billion exchange difference, the Federal Government received ₦19.544 billion, states got ₦9.913 billion, councils received ₦7.643 billion, while ₦2.643 billion was shared as derivation revenue.
The communiqué revealed that gross statutory revenue in July was ₦3.070 trillion, which is ₦415.108 billion lower than the ₦3.485 trillion recorded in June.
On the other hand, revenue from Value Added Tax increased slightly, rising to ₦687.940 billion in July from ₦678.165 billion in June.
FAAC added that revenue from Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Oil and Gas Royalty, Electronic Money Transfer Levy, and Excise Duty recorded significant increases, while Companies Income Tax (CIT) and Common External Tariff (CET) levies went down.
