Panic gripped residents of Zaki-Biam, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, on Monday after unidentified gunmen shot dead a repentant bandit, Kyoga Joka, at the town’s main market.
According to Daily Post, eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the busy market and opened fire on Joka, who was serving with the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in Ukum.
Naijaonpoint understands that the incident caused chaos as traders and shoppers fled for safety.

However, no security operatives had yet to officially confirm the attack as of the time of filing this report.
Neither the Benue State Police Command nor other security agencies had released a statement on the killing.
Residents, however, said Joka died on the spot and his assailants disappeared into the crowd before security reinforcements arrived.
The killing comes amid a fresh wave of insecurity across Benue.
