Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday arrived at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport in Bauchi to represent President Bola Tinubu at the funeral prayer of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
Shettima’s visit follows the cleric’s passing on Thursday, a loss that has drawn widespread mourning across the country.
The Vice President is expected to join thousands of sympathisers, religious leaders, and top government officials at the burial, which will be conducted in accordance with Islamic rites.
His entourage includes the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Information, Idris Mohammed; Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate; and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar.
Also accompanying him are Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, Senator Shehu Buba, and former Bauchi State Governor, Ahmed Mu’azu.
