JUST IN: Sowore storms Abuja court to face Police charges

Omoyele Sowore, a publisher and activist is currently at the Federal High Court in Abuja to face trial over allegations of cybercrime, forgery and incitement of mutiny against the police.

In a post made in X, the activist said he arrived at the court for his arraignment by the Nigeria Police.

Slammed with a three-count charge, Sowore is set to appear before Justice Emeka Nwite.

He was accompanied by some human rights lawyers including Abubakar Marshal, Alexander Oketa, Wayne Chikezie Elijah, and Chike Anago Amanze.

Some of his supporters were also present at the court in anticipation of his arraignment.

The charges against the activist followed the protest by retired police officers who were led by Sowore.

In a post made X, Sowore said, “At the Federal Court Abuja, I am attending to newly filed charges by the Nigeria Police Force, which allege unfounded cybercrime and forgery.”
