The Supreme Court has dismissed appeals arising from the legal disputes over the 2024 Ondo State governorship election
In the first case, the apex court struck out the appeal filed by Bamidele Akingboye, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). His counsel informed the court of the intention to withdraw the case following the death of the appellant. Counsel to the respondents raised no objection.
A five-member panel, led by Justice Iyang Okoro, consequently dismissed the appeal.
Similarly, the court dismissed another appeal filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its governorship candidate after their counsel formally applied for withdrawal.
