The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, in a post on his X handle on Monday, has denied the report, describing it as “fake news.”
He wrote, “There is a Sahara Reporters story that President Tinubu is going to the US on Tuesday to see US Vice President J.D Vance.
“That story is not true. I can see that the fake news by Sahara has become the basis for some uninformed commentaries since yesterday.
“If President Tinubu is going to the White House, he won’t be going to see a vice president.”
Recall that SaharaReporters had alleged that Tinubu would travel to the U.S. on Tuesday for high-level diplomatic talks amid growing tensions over allegations of mass killings of Christians in Nigeria and threats of possible military action from Washington.
According to the report, diplomatic sources claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump had delegated Vice President James David Vance to receive President Tinubu during the visit, pending any last-minute adjustments.
