President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja from Rome, after attending the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.
The presidential aircraft conveying the President landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 07:00pm on Tuesday.
President Tinubu was received by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike;the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, among other top government officials.

The President departed Abuja for Rome on Saturday 17th May, to attend the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV, the newly elected head of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Nigerian Leader’s visit was at the invitation of the Vatican, following the recent election of Pope Leo XIV by the College of Cardinals, installing him the 267th Pontiff and Bishop of Rome.
Upon his arrival in Rome on Saturday, President Tinubu was hosted to a dinner by His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State to the Vatican, where he reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and cooperation across the world.
At the meeting, President Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s openness to friendship, interfaith relations, and commitment to building bridges of understanding across the world
President Tinubu joined World Leaders on Sunday in St Peter’s Basilica for the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV, formerly Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, a Chicago-born Augustinian.
The Nigerian Leader, commended also exchanged warm pleasantries with His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, at the Vatican after the official Mass marking the beginning of the new pontificate.
The President’s interface with Pope Leo XIV adds to the increasing list of international engagements targeted at fostering peace, unity, and cooperation across religious and cultural divides.
