Justice Kekere-Ekun is beacon of hope to young women – Tinubu

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu expressed that the appointment of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria serves as an inspiration and a beacon of hope for young women aiming to shatter glass ceilings in various sectors and make a meaningful impact on society.

The President made this statement at the State House in Abuja during the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Kekere-Ekun as the CJN.

“Justice Kekere-Ekun is a beacon of hope to many young women who aspire to break the glass ceiling and make a meaningful impact on our society,” he remarked.

President Tinubu encouraged the new Chief Justice of Nigeria to uphold the independence of the judiciary and to further the cause of justice.

He also commended Justice Kekere-Ekun’s contributions to the judiciary, highlighting that she assumes this role with an impressive family and professional background.

“Throughout her career, she has earned a reputation for being respectable and incorruptible, both within the bar and on the bench, reinforcing the cause of justice.

“Her distinguished journey from a magistrate to a Supreme Court Justice reflects her exceptional talent, dedication, unblemished record, strong work ethic, and commitment to her role as a steward of justice.

“Her outstanding contributions to the development of the Nigerian judiciary have been remarkable. We are inspired by her unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of fairness and her strong dedication to humanity.

“Justice Kekere-Ekun, a brilliant lawyer who was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981, is now a trailblazer, becoming the second woman to hold this esteemed position, following Honourable Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, GCON,” the President stated.

President Tinubu also emphasized the importance of strengthening mechanisms to uphold and enhance integrity, discipline, and transparency within the judiciary.
