Sen. Orji Kalu has unveiled plans to establish food processing, gold refining and tricycle assembly plants in Zamfara.
Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, stated this while unveiling an upgraded edifice housing Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development on Monday in Gusau, Zamfara.
“My visit to Zamfara is purely a business trip and
is in line with the presidential directive to businessmen to explore all possible business opportunities under the home-grown industries for effective economic development of the country.
“The President Bola Tinubu economic policy focuses on revival of the home-grown industrial operation to give more job opportunities to our teeming youths, and create more wealth among the people and the country.
“My technical team will be in the state any time from now to assume full assessment and do feasibility study of the location to cite the firms,” he said.
Kalu urged Gov. Dauda Lawal to key into the Tinubu economic policy to enable him access more funds from the national treasury for the development of the state.
According to the senator and former governor of Abia, romancing the Federal Government does not mean changing political party.
“By having a cordial relationship with the president, the governor will have more room to digest state needs for necessary interventions and more funds will be allocated to the state,” he said.
the senator advised all political actors in the state to set party differences aside and put all hands on deck to tackle the challenges facing the state.
He noted with delight his long-standing relationship with Sen. Abdulaziz Yari and Gov. Dauda Lawal, applauding their commitment to helping humanity.
Speaking at the event, the governor restated his administration’s commitment toward making a new Zamfara possible and restoring hope to the citizens.
While emphasising his government’s support to both the indigenous and foreign investors in the state, the governor assured of efforts toward developing home-grown values.
“We are investing in the social sector. As government, we will appreciate if the businesses class can explore other economic areas for investment, to give citizens job opportunities,” he said.
Lawal thanked Kalu for visiting the state and identifying areas of interest for investment, assuring that the senator’s proposed investment would bring good life to the youth and women in the state. (NAN)
