The Commissioner for Science and Technology in Kano State, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, has resigned from his position in the cabinet of Governor Abba Yusuf.
Kofarmata, in his statement, said the Yusuf administration has strayed from the ideology that brought it to power.

He also pledged his loyalty to the former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He wrote: “Salam! I wish to categorically state that I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner and Member of the Kano State Executive Council. I took this decision in good faith, as I cannot continue to work under the government that derailed from the ideology that brought it to power.
“On this note, I extend my gratitude to the national leader of the NNPP, Engr. Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and the entire the entire people who stood with us and made the journey successful. Alhamdulillah!”

The development comes in the wake of the decision by Governor Yusuf to dump the NNPP and Kwankwaso for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has cautioned supporters of Governor Abba Yusuf against making inflammatory remarks or insulting the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, warning that offenders will face disciplinary action.
Naijaonpoint reports that the warning was issued on Saturday by the Director‑General of Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Bature Tofa, during a motorcycle distribution event for residents at the Open Space Theatre, Government House.

Tofa emphasised that the government will not tolerate indiscipline or disrespect directed at Kwankwaso, whom he described as a political leader whose contributions to state politics remain significant, regardless of recent political shifts.
