Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged to provide rehabilitation and educational support for recently released minors.
Furthermore, Governor Yusuf clarified that he was not informed of the minors’ arrest prior to arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Naijaonpoint understands that Governor Yusuf recently toured the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, where a dedicated team of medical professionals was tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment of the physical and mental well-being of the 76 minors who have been released.
“Upon learning of the incident, I promptly directed the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to take charge of the case,” he said.
Yusuf appreciated President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging his compassionate gesture towards the children.
“I also extend my gratitude to everyone involved in ensuring the minors’ safe return.
“I commend the parents for their fervent prayers and their maturity throughout this challenging period, both during and after the release of the affected minors. Their composure and resilience are truly admirable,” he said.
Yusuf guaranteed that his administration would undertake all necessary measures to facilitate the reunion of the children with their parents and to furnish them with the requisite support to participate in small-scale entrepreneurial activities.
He underscored the significance of education, ensuring the children’s return to formal schooling to contribute to the advancement of the state.
Yusuf pledged that the state government would implement measures aimed at reintegrating the minors, who were apprehended in relation to the #EndBadGovernance protest.
“I will ensure that these children get a second chance at a normal life by enrolling them in local schools and providing opportunities for their rehabilitation and personal growth.
“This compassionate gesture acknowledges that their actions, although regrettable, shouldn’t define their future,” he said.
